  1. When does registration start and end?

    Teachers must register their school and students from 15th May 2024 – 30th June 2024 (now extended till 18th August 2024). Otherwise, students will not receive the invitation email to join the ELS English Language Ambassador Award 2024.

  4. My students have received their invitation emails. When should they join the online writing course?

    The online writing lessons will be available from 4th June to 30th August 2024. We encourage students to start their online lessons on 4th June.

  5. If I have 20 students but only a few managed to complete the online lessons, will this impact their final participation result because the other schoolmates did not complete the lesson?

    This does not influence or impact the individual student’s participation result.

  6. How many students can join?

    There is no limit to the number of students you can register.

  1. I am a nominated student. How do I join the competition?

    Your teacher must nominate your name and complete the registration for you. You may share the registration guide with your teacher. Click here.

  2. I am a student in a government school and I’m really interested to participate. How do I register?

    You may ask your English teacher to register the school. You may download and print or email this flyer link to your teacher. Click here

  3. I am a student in a private school or private university, or I am enrolled in Form 6. Am I eligible to participate?

    Only Form 4 & Form 5 students enrolled in Malaysian government schools are eligible to participate.

  2. Are there any participation fees?

    None. It's free to join.

  3. Who is eligible to participate?

    The competition is open to all students currently enrolled in Form 4 or Form 5 in Malaysian government schools, between the ages of 16 and 18.

  4. What is the age limit for participation?

    16 to 18-year-old students who are currently studying in Form 4 or Form 5 in Malaysian government schools.

  5. What are the technical/software requirements to participate in this programme?

    If you are a new user, please check that you have the following:

    Browser

    • An up-to-date version of Chrome, Firefox or Safari is strongly recommended.

    Operating System

    • PC: Windows 8 or higher with latest updates installed.
    • Mac: OS X 10.6 or higher with latest updates installed.
    • Linux: Any recent distribution that has the supported browsers installed.

    Mobile Apps

    • iOS: Requires iOS 8.1 or later
    • Android: Requires Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) or later

    Stable Internet access (not less than 1Mbps)

    • Test your connectivity at: http://www.speedtest.net/. Do the testing at least 3 times to get a more accurate data.
      Download: 2+ Mbps recommended; minimum 1 Mbps.
      Upload: 0.5 Mbps.
  1. When does the online writing programme begin?

    The online writing programme will begin on 4th June 2024 and will end on 30th August 2024, 2pm.

  2. How many lessons or exercises are there in the online writing course?

    The writing programme is composed of 15 lessons on essay writing. Each interactive lesson will take approximate 25 to 30 minutes to complete.

    There will also be online interactive activities and discussions led by an online coach in the SunagoLearn online community – a platform designed to facilitate experiential learning using games and activities that challenge participants while reinforcing their writing skills.

  3. How do I check my general average grade?

    You can check your general average grade under Lessons > My Courses.

  5. Do the participants get a certificate for participation in this online writing course?

    Yes, as long as participants complete all 15 lessons with a general average grade of at least 70%  by 30th August 2024, 2pm.

    The online essay competition will begin on 1st August 2024 until 30th August 2024, 3pm.

  2. Is it compulsory to enrol in the online writing course to participate in the competition?

    Yes.

  3. How do I qualify for the essay writing competition?

    Complete all 15 lessons with a general average grade of at least 70% by 30th August 2024, 2pm.

  4. What is the deadline for the essay writing competition?

    Students must submit their essays before or at 3pm of 30th August 2024 to avoid being disqualified.
